Mechanism

Promethazine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors and suppressing the vomiting center in the brain, thereby reducing allergic reactions, nausea, and motion sickness symptoms. Blocks histamine H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells, reducing basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
